Demolished Historic Buildings

Broad Street
1. Charles E. Markeson House: 2086 E. Broad Street, Bexley: Around 1885-Before 1923: Unknown reason for demolition. A newer home went on the site in 1927, but this house is not on the records as existing as early as 1923, so it’s unknown exactly when it was torn down. The Markeson house was set back away from Broad significantly further than the current house is.

Bryden Road
1. Residential House: 2215 Bryden Road: Around 1910-1980: Demolished to build new homes on the site.

Cassady Avenue
1. Fannie Stimmel House: 104 N. Cassady Avenue: 1923-1991: Demolished for unknown reasons, but the lot has remained vacant.

Columbia Avenue
1. Claude Meeker House: 256 S. Columbia Avenue: Around 1890-1920: A new home, which still exists, replaced it.

2. Halbert Blakey House: 301 N. Columbia Avenue: 1926-2002: Demolished to build the current house, which was completed in 2003.

3. Andrew Burns House: 424 S. Columbia Avenue: 1922-2018: Demolished to build a new house on the site.

Dawson Avenue
1. Elizabeth Strickler House: 69 S. Dawson Avenue: 1924-1994: Demolished to build the current house on the site.

Main Street
1. Margery Thomas House: 2552 E. Main Street: 1926-1970: Demolished for a business parking lot that still exists.

2. Frank Gould House: 2599 E. Main Street: 1925-2010: Demolished for a business parking lot that still exists.

Pleasant Ridge Avenue
1. Oma Allen House: 696 Pleasant Ridge Avenue: Around 1915-1989: The site was purchased by Capital University in 1959. The university eventually demolished the house, along with several others, to create a parking lot that still exists today.

2. Sam Mangia House: 706 Pleasant Ridge Avenue: Around 1915-1989: Purchased by Capital University in 1963, it was torn down for a parking lot that still exists today.

3. Residential House: 796 Pleasant Ridge Avenue: Around 1915-1989: As with the other homes on this block, the house was demolished for a Capital University parking lot.
